Wedding Accessories - Decorations and Extras for Church and Reception Hall
After having chosen the wedding day apparel, it is time to choose accessories to dress up the church and the reception hall. Whether the wedding ceremony is being held in a park, home or church and whether the reception will be held at a banquet hall or in a relative's garden, certain decorations and adornments will be necessary. While there is no specific etiquette on having any of the following accessories, this list may guide you to choosing your wedding day accessories.
Pew Ribbons - Pew ribbons are specifically for the seats in a church. They are usually large bows attached to the end of each pew. Sometimes white is chosen as the color while other times, a complimentary color to the wedding party apparel is chosen.
Aisle Runners - Aisle runners are the long mats upon which the bridal couple and wedding party walk. The runners used to serve a functional purpose of making it easier to walk and of course, in inclement weather, making it safer to walk in areas without carpet. They have progressed, however, to include decorations as well. Some couples decide to spend part of their budget on personalized wedding aisle runners with graphics such as two doves.

Petal Walkways - Depending on the church's policies, petals or long stemmed flower walkways are a beautiful addition to the wedding ceremony. The flower girls will carry a basket of petals, gently throwing them down on the floor as a walkway for the bride.
Hall Decorations - The decorations in the hall can pretty well include anything the bride and groom desire. They may place streamers on the fronts of the tables after the tablecloths have been laid or they may request bells hanging from the ceiling. A banner with their names and date of their wedding may be attached to the "head table". Decorations can be sparse or elaborate depending on the budget and personalities of the couple.
Archway - Wedding accessory companies rent out white archways to be used when the bride and groom are announced entering the hall for the reception. The archways can be covered in real flowers or can be decorated with streamers or ribbons.
Flowers and Centerpieces - At the very least the head table usually displays a centerpiece of real flowers. Depending on the budget, the bride and groom may opt for centerpieces or vases of fresh cut flowers for all the tables as well as urns in the church and reception hall. Again the decision to include fresh flowers will depend on the desires of the couple.
Chair Covers - An elegant addition to any reception seating area are chair covers. The covers are made of pretty material in your choice of color. These are great for dressing up the chairs and hall to keep everything uniform and in the couple's chosen theme or color combination.
Chair Ribbons - For those that want to fancy up the chairs but not go to the expense of chair covers, pretty ribbons from the dollar store tied around the backs of the chairs will do nicely.
Place Cards - Depending on whether everyone is to be seated according to a plan, place cards may be ordered. Place cards can either be purchased inexpensively from the discount stores or can match your wedding invitations ordered from the printer.
Money Box - Many people do like to bring an envelope to the reception. Whether this is an addition to their present or the actual wedding gift itself, the envelopes need to be placed somewhere. Wedding accessory shops usually rent pretty boxes to be displayed to collect the envelopes.

A word of caution here: Be very careful because the box is likely to be stolen if placed near the door and in full view. Crooks will watch for weddings and people who are going by the hall may just run in and grab the box. Have someone responsible for the box keep an eye on it. Once all the guests are seated, remove the box to a safe place.
Cake Topper, Cake Server, Cake Cutting Utensils - The choice of wedding cake topper is very personal Some couples like the traditional bride and groom while others prefer something whimsical. Nowadays, the couple may choose ethnic toppers or religious toppers as well. Think about how the wedding cake will be served. Do you need a special plate? Is it one or two-tiered? Lastly, a special knife and lifter are usually needed for the cake cutting.
Guest Book - A guest book is also needed, it will be a cherished reminder of your wedding day, it will contain signitures and addresses of all of your guests. Also a guest book is more like a wedding scrap book as it will contain alot of wedding details, a place to keep your wedding cards and much more. Guest books are also sold as sets which also include a fancy pen to use when signing the book.
Linens - Linens will depend on the hall, the caterer and whether you need to rent them or not. Banquet halls that cook and serve the meal will supply the tablecloths. Some caterers supply the linens as well and if you are holding the reception in your own venue, then you will need to rent linens. Be sure to inquire when contacting vendors.
Renting Chairs, Tables, Tents, Flatware, and Glassware - Again, if the reception is being held in your own venue rather than a hall, you may require the services of an events' rental store. If the wedding ceremony or reception is outside, you may also need a tent or gazebo.
